SHIMABUKU

Born in Kobe in 1969. After living in Berlin, Germany for 12 years, he moved to Naha City. Since the 1990s, he has traveled many places domestically and abroad, and has produced installations, performances and videos related to the people and animals living there, as well as the customs and environment of each place. He has participated in many group exhibitions, including those at the Pompidou Centre in Paris and London’s Hayward Gallery, as well as international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale (2003, 2017) and the São Paulo Biennial (2006).
