Naoyuki SAKAI

Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1991. He is currently enrolled in the Intermedia Art Master’s Program at Tokyo University of the Arts’ Graduate School of Fine Arts. He has been a member of dance company Co. Yamada Un since 2013, and has made his appearance numerous times in domestic and overseas performances. Since 2012 he has produced dance performances mixed with humor and focused on the “earnest body”. In recent years, he has begun the “Everyday Theater Project”, in which unexpected or extraordinary elements are made to intervene in ordinary, everyday spaces, just as they are. He is now exploring a pure form of dance that goes beyond age, gender, nationality, and social roles.
